Netanyahu Signs Order Expanding Payments to Israelis Who Lost Work Due to Gaza Rocket Fire

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed an order Tuesday (Dec. 3) to expand the payment of wages to employees who were absent from work due to the security situation between May 1 2018 and December 31 2019.

The order expands the range of employers to be indemnified by the state for paying the wages of workers who live, or whose place of employ is, within 40 kilometers from the Gaza Strip.

The agreement obligates employers to pay the wages of workers who were absent from work due to the shutdown of the education system or the closure of their place of work pursuant to the instructions of IDF Home Front Command.

The order was signed pursuant to the legislation on collective agreements and in cooperation with the Histadrut, the leadership of the business organizations, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Social Services and the Finance Ministry Director of Wages.
