Jaguar to Go Fully Electric by 2025

The whole world is going electric.

By 20205 all Jaguar vehicles will be electric. The luxury car manufacturer announced on Monday its plans to abandon the internal combustion engine.

The world is changing. Concerns for the environment and over global warming have won out. Entire nations like China have set dates in the near future after which they will no longer allow gasoline powered motor vehicles on their roads. The State of California has also set a deadline after which it will no longer allow the sale of gas powered cars. And now automobile manufacturers have seen the future and understand that they will need to stop making gasoline powered vehicles.

Jaguar declared that its new strategy is to offer sustainability-rich re-imagination of modern luxury, unique customer experiences, and positive societal impact and that it expects to become a net zero carbon business by 2039. The company declared that in the next five years its luxury SUV Land Rover will welcome six pure electric variants. All Jaguar and Land Rover nameplates will be available in pure electric form by end of the decade and the first all-electric Land Rover model will be released in 2024.

“Jaguar Land Rover will become a more agile creator of the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles and services for the most discerning of customers,” boasts the company. “A strategy that is designed to create a new benchmark in environmental, societal and community impact for a luxury business.”

The company says that it can rely on its own resources to make the changes. “We have so many ingredients from within. It is a unique opportunity,” said Thierry Bollore, Jaguar’s CEO. “Others have to rely solely on external partnerships and compromise, but we have frictionless access that will allow us to lean forward with confidence and at speed.”

“As a human-centered company, we can, and will, move much faster and with clear purpose of not just reimagining modern luxury but defining it for two distinct brands,” added Bollore. “Brands that present emotionally unique designs, pieces of art if you like, but all with connected technologies and responsible materials that collectively set new standards in ownership. We are reimagining a new modern luxury by design.
