If you (1) live in Israel, (2) know about Amazon Israel, and (3) still have trouble getting your stuff delivered when you want it, the next few lines should bring tidings of great joy to your heart.

Three months after the start of its delivery service contract with the Israel Postal Company, Amazon has discovered that demand is rapidly outstripping supply.

The global online retailer has had to take on and expand agreements with additional international delivery providers and customs brokers, according to a report published Wednesday on the Globes business news site.

Amazon US is allowing free delivery to Israel for purchases over $49 (not including large products). The deal has resulted in a quantum leap in sales for the online retailer, but Globes quoted sources who said the volume of packages from Amazon last month was “ten times the volume in November 2018.”

Customers are able to pay for their purchases in shekels as well, which makes the transaction that much easier for Israelis who have no overseas bank accounts.

Needless to say, there are still some glitches in the system that are being worked out, as e-commerce and online retailing is an industry that one can say is in its infancy in the State of Israel.
