The old adage “Spring forward, fall back” takes place in Israel this weekend as the clock turns back one hour at 2 am Sunday, to become 1 am Sunday.
The European Union and the Palestinian Authority join Israel in the time change this weekend.

The change means that next Friday afternoon, the Sabbath begins one hour earlier, and darkness falls a lot earlier.
(Parents will also be able to take advantage of this by moving up bedtime for young children if they wish, since the body naturally produces the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin in response to nightfall and the reduction of light.)
Daylight saving time officially returns to the Holy Land next year on March 27, 2020.
The United States does not turn the clock back until next Sunday, November 3, so the time difference between the US and Israel for the next seven days will change accordingly as well.
