The senior White House advisor tested positive on Tuesday.
Stephen Miller has the Corona Virus. He tested positive on Tuesday.
The news comes just days after President Trump was himself hospitalized due to Covid-19. Since then the White House staff has been gutted. Television news reporters talk of an empty West Wing. Most staffers are now working from home. Stephen Miller himself had been working from home for almost a week before coming into the White House yesterday to get tested.
Miller released a statement saying, “Over the last 5 days I have been working remotely and self-isolating, testing negative every day through yesterday. Today, I tested positive for COVID-19 and am in quarantine.”
The news adds fuel to the attacks against the Trump Administration from those who have accused it of not taking a serious enough stance on the Covid pandemic. CNN reports that so far more than a dozen members of the President’s inner circle have tested Covid-19 positive.
A number of Republican Senators have also tested positive. They seem to have been infected at a Saturday, September 26 White House event when President Trump presented his nominee for the Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett. Many criticized the crowded outdoor event where most people did not wear masks or observe a safe distance apart from one another. Films of the event show people hugging and shaking hands. One such person was former New Jersey governor Chris Christie who has also tested positive.
The event was also slammed because Supreme Court nominees are not generally introduced with such fanfare.
Steven Miller’s wife is Vice President Mike Pence’s communications director Katie Miller. She has already had the Corona Virus.
