A Holocaust memorial in the city of Kryvyi Rih, in Ukraine, was desecrated over the weekend.
The damage, a mess of orange-colored spray paint slathered over the engraving on the monument, was discovered on Sunday, just a few days before the president of the country is due to travel to Israel to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Israel’s Ambassador to Kyiv, Joel Lion, noted in a tweet that the monument is located “not far from President Zelensky’s parents’ home,” and added, “I hope that justice will prevail.”
