Check Out Lena Dunham’s New Plus Size Fashion Line

Lena Dunham knows what plus sized women endure.

Lena Dunham — 11 Honoré collection

Lena Dunham has her own fashion line now. Her collection for plus sized women such as herself is now available from 11 HONORÉ called the 11 HONORÉ X Lena Dunham Collection. The new collection offers five items, ranging in price from $98 to $298. They come in sizes ranging from 12 to 26

Best known for her hit TV show “Girls,” Lena Dunham has been a victim of body shaming throughout her life. So that led her to establish this new clothing line; even though, having her own brand was never something that she dreamed of doing in her life.

As she explained to the New York Times, Dunham is not, “a celebrity who’s ever been asked to represent a product. I am not a person for many reasons who anyone even wants to represent a product.” She had also given up on the thought of becoming, “any type of impresario or person who had something to say to everyone. Right now the only thing I’m doing is speaking about my own experience. So this clothing line is a direct response to my experience.”

Dunham also spoke to the New York Times about the problems that plus sized women such as herself must endure. “There’s so much judgment around bigger bodies and I think one of those judgments is that bigger women are stupider,” she said. “They eat too much and don’t know how to stop. Thin women must be discerning and able to use their willpower. Bigger women must be limited in their understanding of the world, and they keep doing things that are bad for them.”

Dunham has been overwhelmed bt=y people who have written to her to blame her for somehow promoting obesity saying things like, “You’re promoting obesity. Don’t you understand you’re killing yourself? Are you stupid? Why are you doing that?”

Dunham shared some more of her thoughts on the issue in an Instagram post promoting her new fashion line. “When you’re thin- no matter the reason- there’s a kind of inherent nod of congratulations that comes from being able to fit into runway samples and look the part of a Hollywood starlet,” she explained.

So this is for the plus sized women. The collaboration, explains Dunham, was about “wanting to cultivate a space where the question of whether a plus body will be embraced by the clothes is a non-issue, and the clothes are not demanding that a plus woman hide. I know that some of the times I’ve wanted to hide most were when I was in a body that didn’t feel like mine, and that body (for me, this is just me) is one where I’ve lost weight due to illness, sadness or both. To have that treated as some kind of fashion statement was heartbreaking, but to find a way to express my gratitude to the plus women who have inspired me to feel at home in my curvy complex body is such a gift.”
