Between 40 to 60 bodies were found stored over the past few days or even weeks, in as many as four different unrefrigerated U-Haul trucks outside a Brooklyn funeral home Wednesday evening, according to local media.

The bodies were stacked up on top of each other in the trucks outside Andrew T. Cleckley Funeral Home and on the building floor. Neighbors on Utica Avenue in the Flatlands reported the police of a terribly foul odor emanating from the trucks.

Brooklyn Borough President called it “unacceptable” and “endemic of a larger problem” according to the media.

According to ABC News, police officials said the owner of the funeral home was using the trucks to store and move the bodies, as he struggled to deal with the overflow of bodies during the coronavirus pandemic that remains a problem citywide.
