Israeli Startup Kando Revolutionizes Global Wastewater Treatment with AI-Powered Intelligence

Business

Kando is an Israeli startup and wastewater intelligence company dedicated to improving global wastewater quality through innovative solutions. The firm closed a $10 million investment round, bringing the total amount it has raised to $30 million.

Wastewater quality is a critical global issue affecting water availability, public health, and the environment.

According to the UN, water pollution is increasing throughout the water cycle. Due to population growth, accelerated urbanization and economic development, the quantity of wastewater being generated and its overall pollution load are increasing globally.

Wastewater management is a critical yet often overlooked issue. Globally, safely reused wastewater remains underutilized as a valuable resource for water, energy, nutrients, and other recoverable materials. Untreated wastewater in cities, particularly in poorer urban areas, poses a significant environmental and health risk. A large portion of this wastewater is discharged directly into drainage channels or water bodies, exposing communities to household effluent, human waste, toxic chemicals, and medical waste. This contamination often occurs in densely populated residential areas, further exacerbating the problem.

Founded in 2024 by Zohar Scheinin and Ari Goldfarb, Kando is a wastewater Data as a Service (DaaS) solution that provides real-time data insights from the wastewater network to optimize your wastewater treatment plant and wastewater quality. Backed by a robust data science team, including experts with PhDs in Biophysics, Biology, and Mathematics, Kando leverages Generative AI to transform analytical insights and industry knowledge into actionable business actions.

“We are excited and looking forward to working with our new partners who have joined us, together with the existing investors who have once again shown their trust and support to solve the global water challenge,” said Ari Goldfarb CEO and Co-founder KANDO. “This investment will further empower the use of AI to improve decision-making in the water sector, benefiting populations worldwide. Kando’s solution, powered by Generative AI, allows us to manage and improve wastewater quality, save millions of dollars, and enable the reuse of wastewater. This investment will accelerate our growth and create more value for cities in the US and Europe.”

Kando’s journey began in the heart of southern Israel, a region renowned for pioneering water conservation and innovation. Inspired by the region’s commitment to sustainable water practices, Kando was founded with a vision to revolutionize wastewater management.
