Afimilk’s AI can predict milk production of a cow a year in advance

Afimilk‘s AI system which manages over 10 million cows in cowsheds in 52 countries around the world, can predict milk production of a cow a year in advance and detect diseases before they manifest.

The artificial intelligence system was developed by scientists at the high-tech company Afimilk, located in Kibbutz Afikim, is now focusing on smart cowshed management. Besides smart sensors, the firm also designs and manufactures artificial intelligence-based monitoring and prediction systems and administration interfaces for PCs and smartphones.

“Big data is driving AI,” says Oren Drori, VP of Product Management at Afimilk. A growing number of cowsheds are uploading data to the cloud for analysis and study (software training).”

Drori says this type of study is vital in cowshed management since it predicts milk production and economic performance. “Our technology also allows us to predict diseases before symptoms appear, because, as in human medicine, prevention is always the best method.”

Drori claims that cowsheds have changed dramatically in recent years. “When markets drive down milk prices and environmental concerns limit cow numbers, milk producers must become more efficient. Each cow should produce more milk for less money and produce less CO2. As herds develop, farmers’ jobs become more managerial, increasing the potential worth of their technology.”

According to ResearchAndMarkets.com, agricultural AI investments will grow from 671.6 million dollars in 2019 to 11.2 billion dollars in 2030.
