Graham Slams Trump Decision to Withdraw from Northern Syria

South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham heated up the internet Monday with strong statements expressing his outrage in response to the decision by President Donald Trump to pull US forces out of northern Syria in deference to Turkey’s desire to invade the area.

“I don’t know all the details regarding President Trump’s decision in northern Syria,” Graham began in his first tweet. “In process of setting up phone call with Secretary (Mike) Pompeo (of the State Department.) If press reports are accurate this is a disaster in the making.”

The next tweet was, with an admirable economy of words, laser focused and equally sharp: a simple list of sins to be committed by the Trump administration if the pullout goes through:
• Ensures ISIS comeback.
• Forces Kurds to align with Assad and Iran.
• Destroys Turkey’s relationship with US Congress.
• Will be a stain on America’s honor for abandoning the Kurds.

Graham followed that tweet with one finally post, saying, “Also, if this plan goes forward, will introduce Senate resolution opposing and asking for reversal of this decision. Expect it will receive strong bipartisan support.”
