The Shin Bet in collaboration with the IDF and Israel Police in recent months, exposed a broad and well organized terror infrastructure belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which carried out the bomb attack in at Ein Bubin spring near Dolev last Augusat, in which the late Rina Shnerb, 17, was murdered and her brother and father were injured (Girl Murdered, Father and Brother Seriously Wounded in Terror Bombing).

The investigation revealed that the terrorist infrastructure carried out additional shooting attacks and planned more significant attacks in the near future. About 50 activists were arrested and interrogated by senior Shin Bet commanders, which yielded information that led to the detection and seizure of numerous deadly weapons that belong to the terrorist infrastructure of the PFLP.

These include: M-16 rifles, AK-47 Kalashnikov rifles, Galil rifles, carbine rifles, improvised Uzi mini pistols, handguns, silencers, large quantities of fertilizer used to make explosive, detonators, iron balls to extend injuries from explosives, and ammunition of various types. Also seized: walkie-talkies, telescopic lenses and a portable battery to charge explosive devices.

A large cache of weapons were seized in the apartment of Khalida Jarrar, 56, a Palestinian politician, resident of Ramallah who has been imprisoned several times in the past for involvement in the PFLP, and who has risen to become the leader of the PFLP in the PA.

Jarrar is a relative of Samar Arabid, the head of the squad that carried out the attack near Dolev and the person who triggered the explosive’s charge.

As part of the interrogations of squad members by the Shin Bet, they revealed in great detail the preparations they had made for the attack at Ein Bubin spring, and how they were implemented. Their confessions revealed that intelligence gathering ahead of the attack began several weeks before the unit was deployed, when they came to the spring area on various occasions to plan the attack, until they finally presented the plan of action to Samar Arabid and received his approval.

The night before the attack, the squad members – Samar Arabid, Yazan Majams and Qassam Barghouti – settled at a mountainous area north of Ein Bubin spring, armed with guns and explosives.

Samar left Yazan and Qassam in the field along with the cargo and drove back towards Ramallah to leave their vehicle at a distant point. About an hour later, he was driven back to the attack site by Walid Hannatasha, the representative of the Front’s command which funded the attack.

Hannatasha drove off and left Arabid with the squad members, who together hiked for two hours to the spring. When they arrived, they placed the explosive charge near the access road and went up to an observation post above the site.

After several hours of waiting during which Qassam Barghouti was in charge of the observation, the squad members noticed the Shnerb family approaching. Qassam passed the information to Samar who pulled the trigger and launched the powerful charge that hit the father, his son, and his daughter.

After the attack was carried out, the squad escaped to Ramallah on a mountainous road until they reached the city and split.
