Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Earned $640 Million While Working at the White House
The couple is under fire for ethics violations.
First Daughter Ivanka Trump and hubby Jared Kushner brought in $640 million during the four years that daddy Donald Trump was in office. This was the money which they earned form their businesses and investments while they worked as public servants in the Trump administration. This was reported by the political watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), according to its analysis of financial disclosures.
CREW revealed that the duo reported between $172 million and $640 million in outside income while working in the White House. This should provide further fodder for Donald Trump’s critics who accuse the former President of using his position to enrich both himself and his family.
The American tax payers paid millions for his stays at properties owned by the Trump Organization. And the family is currently being sued in Washington for allegedly overcharging the Trump inaugural committee for services at the Trump Hotel in Washington D.C.
While both Jared and Ivanka promised to avoid any conflicts of interest from their businesses while they worked as advisors to President Trump, CREW cited a number of examples of how this proved not to be the case.
The organization implied that Ivanka Trump benefited considerably by her father’s election to the Presidency. The Russian government renewed two trademarks for her business. China granted Ianka’s business preliminary approval for three Chinese trademarks in 2017. This happened on the same day that she dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago.
In May 2018, Ivanka’s business was awarded “registration” approval from the Chinese government for five trademark applications, with an additional one getting “first trial approval.” The same week, President Trump announced he would try to save jobs at ZTE, the Chinese telecommunications giant closely tied to the government. A month later, Ivanka’s business got registration approval for three more Chinese trademarks, on the same day her father announced he’d lift sanctions against ZTE.
CREW declared that “Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump should never have been allowed to work in the White House. While taking on enormous responsibilities that they were unqualified to carry out, and debasing their positions with constant ethics scandals, they likely made hundreds of millions of dollars from questionable sources. All that was waived off by the same nepotism that got them their jobs.”
