Mark Ruffalo Apologizes to Israel Over Genocide Accusations

Its safe to watch The Avengers movies again.

Thank you Mark Ruffalo. The entire world Jewish community, and all of Israel, can breathe fresh air once again. For two weeks people were too afraid to move after the actor posted an anti-Israel Tweet accusing the country of committing acts of genocide during the recent fighting in Gaza. Well now, thank the Lord, he has recanted.

One might think that it should not be so troubling that a Hollywood actor condemn Israel in such harsh terms. But this is not just any actor. Remember, Mark Ruffalo is the Incredible Hulk. What next? Will Superman condemn Israel as racist or accuse it of committing war crimes? God forbid!

So what exactly did Ruffalo say anyway? Mark Ruffalo tweeted, “1500 Palestinians face expulsion in #Jerusalem. 200 protesters have been injured. 9 children have been killed. Sanctions on South Africa helped free its black people – it’s time for sanctions on Israel to free Palestinians. Join the call.”

Well, after having two weeks to “reflect”, the actor apparently has had a change of heart. Now he tweeted, “I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing “genocide”. It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify antisemitism here & abroad. Now is the time to avoid hyperbole.”

So what changed? Maybe his Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson got to him. She is a known Zionist sympathizer who did an ad campaign for Israel’s Soda Stream company. Or maybe those Jews who control Hollywood threatened Mark’s career.

Whatever the case, the news certainly comes as a relief to none.

Now no one waits with bated breath for similar apologies from John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Lena Headey, Susan Sarandon, Viola Davis …
