OpenAI and Meta Platforms (META.O) have separately engaged in discussions with Reliance Industries (RELI.NS) over potential partnerships to expand their artificial intelligence (AI) offerings in India, according to a report by The Information on Saturday.

One key possibility under discussion is a collaboration between Reliance Jio and OpenAI to distribute ChatGPT in India, as cited by sources familiar with the matter.

With India emerging as a major AI market, these potential partnerships could significantly enhance AI accessibility and innovation across the country.

The Information, citing sources, reports that OpenAI and Reliance have engaged in multiple discussions about a potential partnership involving product distribution and sales. OpenAI envisions Reliance’s business units, notably Jio, selling its AI solutions, including ChatGPT.

According to Bloomberg, a potential partnership with Reliance Industries is viewed as a strategic move for Meta and OpenAI, aimed at strengthening their relationships with Indian government officials. This collaboration could also significantly enhance their market position among Indian consumers and businesses.
