One of the lesser-known symptoms of COVID-19 disease is RED EYES, according to a CNN report. This is the single most important sign say the staff at a Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington, where 50 people out of 180 have contracted the virus, and 37 have died
Up until now, we have learned that Coronavirus signs included cough, rapid breathing, loss of sense of smell and taste, but a new symptom now reported is Red eyes. A sign that a person is very ill with the Coronavirus, according to a nurse working at the Life Care Center.
The nurs, Chelsey Earnest, told CNN: “It’s something that I witnessed in all of them. They have, like … allergy eyes. The white part of the eye is not red. It’s more like they have red eye shadow on the outside of their eyes,” she said.
Ernest said she and her colleagues, along with doctors at a nearby hospital, all noticed the strange symptom.
She continued: “We had patients whose red eyes were the only symptom we saw, and they went to the hospital and died there.” Ernest, who was interviewed by CNN with three other nurses, said: “what she saw would haunt her for the rest of her life.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US, as well as the World Health Organization, warns of symptoms such as high fever, but does not mention the eye problems in the guidelines on the virus. The conjunctiva, which may cause redness of the eyes, warned the ophthalmologists to protect their mouth, nose, and eyes when they see patients who may be infectious.
