Rocket Fire Awakens Southern Israeli Children Twice on Thursday

For the second time Thursday, a rocket was fired from Gaza after dark at Israeli civilians living near the southern border.

The rocket landed in an open area, where it did no property damage. No one was physically injured.

The Red Alert rocket siren was triggered in Kibbutz Kfar Aza a few minutes before eight o’clock in the evening, around the time young children are already sleeping and some of the older ones are beginning to go to bed, forcing their parents to disturb their sleep and drag them out of their warm beds and out into the cold to nearby bomb shelters.

The same scenario took place at the earlier end of the day, when the incoming rocket siren woke southern Israeli families in Sderot and Yivim at around 2:30 am.

IDF Iron Dome fighters intercepted that rocket, which was clearly headed for a populated area, and made sure it was shot down from the sky so it could do no harm.

Once again, miraculously, no one was physically injured and no property damage was reported.

In response to the rocket fire overnight, IDF fighter jets struck a Hamas weapons factory in Gaza.

“We hold Hamas responsible for the events transpiring in the Gaza Strip and emanating from it,” the IDF said in a statement.
