Guatemala has received an atmospheric water generator that makes water out of the air in its attempts to recover from the Tropical Storm.

Guatemala has received an innovative Israeli water technology that makes water out of the air, at a time in which the Latin American country has to contend with Tropical Storm Amanda.

The storm broke, causing flooding and destruction in the Central American country facing a drinking water deficit. Israeli company Watergen donated its GEN-M technology, at a special ceremony last week that in the participation of President Alejandro Giammattei. The GEN-M will be used by The National Coordination for Disaster Reduction of Guatemala (Conred) during such times of crisis.

]The technology could also strain the country’s water infrastructure. Some 20 percent of Guatemalan’s population of 16 million, have difficulty accessing safe drinking water.

Between 2018-2019 water production in Guatemala City was estimated 4 cubic meters per second. But the demand was 6.5 cubic meters per second, leaving the capital city with a water deficit.

The device dproduces as much as 800 liters of clean water a day with a weight of just 780 kilograms. It can be easily installed and each unit requires only an energy source to operate.

Guatemala’s Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Investment and Tourism, Isaac Farchi said: “We are very grateful to Watergen, which donated this machine during these difficult times facing Guatemala. It is a clear sign that Israeli technology provides the most vital of needs and helps the Jewish state’s many friends.”

Watergen’s president and owner, Dr. Michael Mirilashvili said: “We are active in many Latin American countries including Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama. Many other countries around the world are also faced with the challenge of accessing freshwater due to such problems as drought and corrosive infrastructure. At the same time, plastic water bottles and containers do not provide an environmentally sustainable solution. We, on the other hand, have the capacity to provide everyone in the world with freshwater without damaging the planet and the environment.”
