85th Week of Friday Violence – Again – at Israel’s Gaza Border

Israeli soldiers once again faced stone-throwers, sound bombs, burning tires and other threats this past Friday (Dec 20) as Gaza rioters attempted to breach the southern border and attack Jewish civilians living in southern Israel for the 85th time since March 2018.

The so-called “Supreme National Authority of the Great March of Return” in Gaza said in a release that Friday’s events were held under the slogan, “Hebron is a thorn in the way of efforts to create a Jewish majority” in solidarity with Hebron Governorate.

Thousands of rioters gathered at five different spots in a 300-meter buffer zone along the border, starting with the area of eastern Jabalia in northern Gaza, and then continuing on to the Malaka area of eastern Gaza City, the area of eastern al-Buriej in central Gaza, in the Khuza’ah area of eastern Khan Younis, and in the eastern al-Shawka neighborhood of Rafah, in southern Gaza.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights reported Saturday night that 45 Gazans were shot and injured in the violence, including “17 children, three woman and a journalist.”

The information cannot be independently confirmed since the injuries were observed and reported on the Gaza side of the border.
