Gal Gadot Gets Tsuris for Supporting Israel
Wonder Woman tweeted support for her homeland.
Wonder Woman Gal Gadot came out in support of Israel during the ongoing crisis with countless missiles being launched at civilian targets out of the Gaza Strip by the terrorist group Hamas. But apparently expressing concern for family and friends in Israel, or any support of Israel, is unacceptable to some.
As a result of a deluge of negative comments, Gadot was forced to disable future comments on her Tweet.
Gal Gadot had tweeted, “My heart breaks. My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation. Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families, I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we could live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.”

The negative responses included, “Reminder Gal Gadot served in the IDF for two years where she not only witnessed the ethnic cleansing of Palestine firsthand but also actively supported it. How can you advocate to stop the vicious cycle of terror when you are standing on the frontlines enabling it #FreePalestine.”
Another wrote, “Gal Gadot’s statement is far worse than that tone-deaf imagine video from last year. “Free and Safe”. The same state that is perpetrating military occupation, land theft and ethnic cleansing against the people of Palestine.”

Not all of the comments were negative, however. One an tweeted, “The internet is angry at Gal Gadot because she’s an IDF veteran, which all Israelis are required to serve in for at least two years, and had the audacity to share a heartwarming message for peace in the conflict. A lot of disgusting people in her replies.”
Republican Senator from Texas Ted Cruz simply wrote, “God bless @GalGadot.”
The Israeli government reposted the Tweet on its official account.
Gal Gadot can next be seen in the new movie Red Notice with Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson. In it she plays an Interpol agent on the hunt for an art thief. After that she will be in Kenneth Branagh’s next Hercule Poirot movie Death on the Nile.
