Intel, Mobileye Expands R&D Facilities and Manufacturing Capacity in Israel
Intel has already begun the first phase of construction and will invest $10 billion to increase capacity and capability.
Intel has will expand its current investment in Israel to grow its product offering, strengthen supply, in order to keep its position as a market-leading innovator.
Intel will make three investments to extend existing research and development (R&D) facilities and increase manufacturing capacity to support a new era of innovation, manufacturing, and product.
The news follows Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger’s visit to Jerusalem. To accelerate the company innovation and development, Intel will invest more money in three areas:
- Intel would expand its current R&D facility in Haifa by establishing IDC12. $200 million investment will be next to Haifa’s new main research and development site. The two centers will work together to create a 6,000-person mega chip design campus. Both current and future workers will have access to hybrid workspaces and open work environments in the new building, which was built with collaboration in mind.
- Increased Production Capacity – The Kiryat Gat plant, which is already producing at 10nm, will see a significant expansion. Intel has already begun the first phase of construction and will invest $10 billion to increase capacity and capability.
- Brand New Mobileye R&D Campus–Mobileye, is the third investment location. When completed in October 2022, the LEED-certified smart building will be ready to host up to 2700 employees in 128,000 square meters. Plans include a pool, spa, gym, and one-of-a-kind auditorium. Renowned Israel architect Moshe Tzur designed the building that will be completed at a cost of 947,000 NIS. Mobileye, an Intel Company, is growing rapidly and has more than tripled in size and revenue since it was acquired by Intel in 2017. Mobileye is crucial to Intel’s future. They will make a $400 million investment to convert the current center into a new R&D campus, which will be the largest in Jerusalem.

Israel also plays a key role in designing and producing cutting-edge technologies for Intel’s consumers and stakeholders, ensuring long-term value. It is an Intel global R&D and manufacturing centre, with wafer fabrication plants, computing, communications, and AI R&D teams spread throughout Israel, as well as the Mobileye headquarters in Jerusalem.
